Is it worth subscribing to the English version of Granma? What do you guys think of it? I'd like to read some good newspapers!

Thanks!

They're okay. Not the best, not the worst. I don't subscribe, I just check the site out every once in awhile.

It's mixed in quality. Sometimes worth following just to know what the Cuban Communist Party is saying.

It's useful for checking in on Cuba's domestic and national issues. Fidel's articles are very insightful and well worth reading if nothing else. :castro:

Nice to see that they still hold an optimistic socialist outlook on things. I wonder what English versions of the PRC or DPRK news sources would read like.

The KCNA's English website is usually awful: the translations are shocking. And generally the coverage is a joke, usually only covering DPRK's diplomatic relations or some rhetoric about the success of the revolution.

It's a shame, since I'd like to read some proper news and analysis of the country.

Cuban state propaganda.
I'm sure teh Cuban people would be better off watching Univision, their dissidents mocking them at every opportunity. All the while make a big fuss over which star is wearing which clothes and asking El Walter to give them their zodiac fortune. After a long day's work they could settle on watching a Novela with repetitive themes based on deception, adultery, murder, vengeance, and drama.

Well the people that don't like it, do you go for any other newspapers?

I might subscribe for 6 months and see whether I like it.

Not subscribed to it. I do have Prensa Latina as my homepage, and Granma, Xinhua and People's Daily are in my bookmarks toolbar on Firefox.

Check out their online site and if it's something that appeals to you then it might be the type of paper that you want to subscribe to.
