Let's define! What is Communism exactly? Let us finally come up with a straight answer. Hopefully this thread will become long with different views, and we can mass it together to create one definition.

Lets get it rolling with something simple:
eradification of classes, ie: a classless socitey and the dictatorship of the proletariat

The dictatorship of the proletariat is a description, used by Lenin, for socialism.
Communism is a utopian, ideal society without classes or an offical governing body.
Somewhere along those lines.

Yes, Utopianly that's what it is, but I'm thinking more realistically. Utopian, being run by the people, equal rights, equal say, no money.

Are you denouncing the writings of Marx, Engels, and such?
Realistically, that's what communism is.

Gosh no. I would never denounce Marx etc!
I was just saying that it would have to come about that way. I love Utopias:). I want a utopia, I believe in a utopia, I believe it is achieveable.
A classless, therefore monetaryless and stateless society.
A lot of different arguments to get this simple little thing down.

It isn't that simple though. That was my point to create this thread. The few debates showed that. We dont entirely agree on a single deffinition. "Somewhere along those lines." That showed that a single precise deffinition hasn't been defined yet(no offense man, its not bad). We can't have a simple dictionary deffinition. It has to be specific and precise, one we can agree on. You might, or might not, think that we can agree that much. It might take time, but we can eventually peice all of our different views together, and create a precise deffinition that can be outright told to others without having to sit and think of an answer to their question. In other words(hehe), what I had said earlier, to rewrite the communist manefiesto. To refine it, and make it better. In about a month I will have compiled all the ways, words, and possiblitities that exist on this site. I will try to put them all in a nice little "book" and distribute it for evaluation. I will try to keep my singular ideas out of it, and only what has been kinda agreed opon in the past. (in other words, its ok i have no life, im going to read every single thread on this board, all the way from the begining and create somewhat of a deffinition while people argue). Ok, i think thats all i have to say. I really can't supply my own deffinition(yeah, hypocrite, i know).

You know, I actually said it as a joke. I'm a revisonist (not a bad one, like the dictionary would describe me as). This is something i said in another forum ;

Hmmm...
*Free education and health care
*Nationalising most industries/companies, etc (all in "true" communism). No, or very little privitisation/free enterprise. (This would get rid of at least most of that bull**** propaganda of items we don't need)
*No discrimination (most evident in jobs getting, gender, race, etc)
*Basic needs are rationed/distributed evenly (food, water, etc)
*Income is distributed according to ability and need
"From each according to his ability, to each according to his need."
- Karl Marx
*Raise taxes (mainly income tax), remove tax loopholes, stop tax evaders - all of which is to help pay for all the peoples needs. BTW, tax is by percentage, rising by the rising of income (possibly the lower bracket will not be taxed, or just the rich are taxed, i.e. Venezuela)
*To sum it up (as a generlisation), everything in moderation. Most notably, the environment.
I might have missed something, but it is something like that.

So, what do you think?

Well... I would be repeating what you people say... I'll just add one tiny little thing though... Well... It's not that tiny:
No being will have power over another...
Wait... that's Anarchism... But still, I believe Anarchism as a form of Communism... If power was absent from the world of Communism, maybe it could help (Or maybe not...). Oh well...

Pure Communism exists in a state of Anarchy. Absence of government.
