Call me slow, but I watched at it this festival a few days back. I remember hearing about it a long time ago, and hell, I recognised a voice clip in it from a rad political band i like, but was wondering what people thought of it both politically, and generally? I missed the start, so I would rather see the start before having a solid opinion on it.

Alex Jones was cool on it though. Hell, I didnt know who he was til I found out more youtube etc.

I've seen it, it was pretty pointless and boring in my opinion.

EDIT: oh yeah, to answer your question; the movie had hardly anything to do with politics, it was mostly about philosophy, and most of it was pointless and useless in that respect.

I liked the part of that guy who was seemingly an anarchist and then torched himself, that was the most political that movie got.

I think that is a bit cynical. I think that perhaps one could easily get stuck or lost in the at times, over philosophising, but I think there were definitely some good ideas there. Like on top of the guy who torched himself (not that im doing that anytime soon), there was Alex Jones shouting stuff through a megaphone on his car, and i guess even generally the way the film made you think about the way we existed, what is was to exist. Kinda existential, but I think there was something in it about what it truly was to exist, and perhaps that eluded to the ideas of freedom... i dunno. maybe i should watch it again.

Could you elaborate? he seems to do and say some good stuff, but i have the feeling he may be into a bit of conspiracy theory....

But yeah, im not American, so I know fuck shit about him. :(

He's a total right-wing Christian conspiracy theory nutjob who supports the racists in the John Birch Society, opposes all forms of "collectivism," has ridiculous ideas about communism (it was made to oppress Russian serfs) and, if I recall, is involved in some vaguely anti-semitic ideas. Sadly, many on the left have bought in to his nonsense.

The movie is a collection of philosophical discussions, it's not meant to follow a strict and typical storyline. After all, it takes place in a dream.

I saw it a while ago so I don't remember specifics with regards to politics, but this topic was not the focus of the movie

I personally enjoyed it and liked the way it was filmed...or altered…or whatever that technique is called - it fir perfectly with the dream premise of the movie.

I dream alot and think much on my dreams, so I really enjoyed this movie.

My favourite bit was the conversation between the characters from "before sunrise" where they talked about reincarnation as a metaphor for collective awareness.

Well, hes also very much opposed to the neo-Con movement, considers the US to be either fascist or teetering on it and has written about the connection between business and political elites, so its not that easy to pigeonhole him. I don't think he is Christian either. I don't like his politics in general but I thought his vignette in 'Waking Life' was superb and if taken alone is very inspiring.

Anyway, I loved this movie, I've seen it several times. I like the parts with Speed Levitch, the autistic kid on the roof, the guy who comes out of the train, Alex Jones, Mr. Debord and several others.

I think it was rotoscoping...

I wanted to see the film...to see what's all about... :(

I probably see it later when I get the chance.

It's called rotoshop, a pretty hard method, in where you have to edit every frame. Personally, it can be done with Photoshop - use cutout (artistic -> cutout) and then sylize -> anomorphic.

But yeah, the idea of Waking Life is more of an pilosophy rather than politics.
