someone look up fascism in the dictionary. I believe it will say that it's a system in which the centalized government has control of the means of production, yet private ownership of property is allowed.

Fascism 1. a governmental system with astrong centralized power, permitting no opposition or criticism, controlling all affairs of the nation, emphasizng an agressive nationalism and anti communist (Sounds like america eh??)

Nazi 1. a member of the national socialist german workers party of germany, wich in 1933, under adolf hitler, obtained political control of the country, suprressing all opposition and establishing a dictaorship on the principles of oneparty control over all cultural economic and political activities of the poeple, belief in the supremacy of hitler as fuhrer, anti semitism, and the establishment of germany by superior force as a dominant world power.

Communims 1.theory or system of social organization based on sthe holding of all property in common actualy ownership being ascribed to the comunity as a whole or to the state.

All from my 1947 edition of the American College Dictionary. It may be old, but damn does it smell good!

Thanks. And yes, you are right. But Nazis are also technically not the same as Fascists. Fascists are more right wing and less focused on race than the nazis.

Heh, Hitler suppressed the trade unionists as quick as he did the communists, Jews, and gypsies.

“We stand for the maintenance of private property... We shall protect free enterprise as the most expedient, or rather the sole possible economic order.”

— Adolf Hitler

No socialist here, SE ;)

LOL, I saw this thread and thought "Well, well, look what we have here, oh the joy of sending this thread and it's creator to OI forever... hmmm... let's see... who wro.... GAGH!"

*thudd* (the standard sound when large, bearded socialist men impact with the floor)

I woke up to click the link and see that it was a joke, I was breathing most of the time I was out so I only lost like 10% of my brain. I still have almost 12% left though, so I'm good for now!

Hitler changed to a more conservative stance to win support for his cause. When he spoke to workers, he spoke of redistribution, when he spoke to the industrialists, he spoke of preserving private property.

So Nazism cannot be defined. It is based entirely on Hitler's ideas, and Hitler's ideas changed considerably over time.

I was about to post that quote Dyer. I've only used it against the capitalist about fifteen fucking times.

No, he did not change to a more conservative stance over time. He did what many politicians today do when they speak to workers - say what they want to hear.

I shall quote once again.

“We stand for the maintenance of private property... We shall protect free enterprise as the most expedient, or rather the sole possible economic order.”

The Mussolini quote's a kicker, too. I'm sure you've heard it, but I'll post it here for any onlookers.

“Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of State and corporate power.”
— Benito Mussolini

Here's one you might not have seen. This one is IMHO the funniest and most appropriate.

"This American system of ours, call it Americanism, call it capitalism, call it what you will, gives each and every one of us a great opportunity if we only seize it with both hands and make the most of it."
-Al Capone
