BNP 'plans twelfth recruitment'
The far right British National Party is planning to recruit in Northern Ireland during the marching season, Ulster Unionist Danny Kennedy has claimed.

Mr Kennedy, the UUP deputy leader, told the assembly the party was not welcome.

"I have said to them that this isn't the kind of imported hate-mongering that we want or need in Northern Ireland," he said.

The Newry and Armagh assembly member said the Orange Order was also opposed to the BNP move.

"I believe that there are indications that the BNP, members of the British Nationalist Party, are going to try and actively recruit in Northern Ireland over this year's 12 July celebrations," Mr Kennedy said.

"I very much condemn these efforts, I welcome the indications from the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland which resolutely condemn and oppose this move."

The DUP's Peter Weir also condemned the BNP.

"I think that there's a very clear signal which should be sent out by this assembly - that the type of hatred that is promulgated by the BNP has no place in our society," he said.

I wouldn't worry really. Obviously they are a fascist threat and must be stopped but I just don't see them being successful, particularly in Northern Ireland.

The largest Loyalist group, the UDA is allied with Combat 18 already.

Dont be so quick. Northern Ireland has had a speight of racist violence, against asian, chinese and eastern European minorities.
PRC-UTE Keep me informed if anything develops regarding this. I was active against these bastards in Oldham and I know what a pain they can be to get rid of once they get a foothold.

Quite right, the unionists have their own unique Ulster domestic version of 'hate-mongering'. One can certainly understand why they don't want any 'imported hate-mongering'.

Yeah, it's essentially a rivalry. The DUP is notorious for hating catholics (a spokesperson said in relation to the murder of a catholic youth by loyalists that he was burning in hell) and even more so for their open, proud hatred of homosexuals. They refused to apologise for homophobic comments and later reiterated them in responce to criticism.
