what exactly does Focoism mean?

I think it refers to the 'foco' theory of rural guerilla warfare in which you build guerilla controlled zones and surround the cities. Used by Cstro in Cuba and the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia. Sometimes described as what happened in China, but that doesnt really seem to be what happened there.

It describes the use of small, revolutionary bands which seek to create a state crisis in order to spark a mass uprising.

The term focoist was mainly a term used to describe the tactics of Che and the Cuban Revolution separate to Mao's idea of protracted people's war.
