The proposition of renaming this thread was with the objective of providing a place for more ample and theoretical discussions about art, but I haven't seen many yet. I think this might be a good start.

Apparently a Frida Kahlo exposition has been inaugurated in Mexico and will apparently be show in various places around the world including in Europe in a few years. It includes not only her famous paintings, but also letters and other objects of biographical interest.

Was Freida Kahlo actually left wing or did she just become synomonous with socialism because of her affair with Trotsky?

Check this out:

There is an excellent film out about her (or, rather available on DVD), starring Salma Hayek, called 'Frida'.

She was highly sympathetic to Trotskyism, but after the war drifted back into the Stalinist camp.
