Lenin and Leninism, from the man himself if at all possible.

I've always heard the anarchist/democratic socialist critique of the man and his ideals and I think it's time to hear the other side.

Trotsky and Trotskyism...

Mao and Maoism...

Social Anarchism as far as what such a society will look like, how it would be organized and function, etc.

Any other tendency or subject you think would be helpful to know.

Thanks in advance...

Also..TRY to pick the best or a couple of the best books about each..I don't have a whole lot of money so I need to pick and choose what I buy.

I think this might belong in the Literature and Films forum

Anyway, I think http://marxists.org/ is a good place to start for you. It has tons of material for free.

You're right, this is the forum.

May I suggest for Lenin:

THE STATE & REVOLUTION (http://www.marxists.org/archive/lenin/works/1917/staterev/index.htm)
http://www.marxists.org/archive/lenin/work...terev/index.htm (http://www.marxists.org/archive/lenin/works/1917/staterev/index.htm)

Still one of the best articulations of the stance and aims of revolutionary Marxism.

And, for a concise outline of Lenin's theory of the Revolutionary Party this:

Cliff: LENIN & THE REVOLUTIONARY PARTY (http://www.marxists.org/archive/cliff/works/1973/05/lenin.htm)

http://www.marxists.org/archive/cliff/work...73/05/lenin.htm (http://www.marxists.org/archive/cliff/works/1973/05/lenin.htm)

For Trotsky:

THE SOVIET & THE REVOLUTION (http://www.marxists.org/archive/trotsky/1918/ourrevo/ch05.htm) for a short introduction to Trotsky's conception of the workers council as a key instrument of the revolutionary working class.

And dip into this archive to discover Trotsky's analysis of fascism and how to fight it and his disagreements with the policy of the Communist International:

THE RISE OF HITLER (http://www.marxists.org/archive/trotsky/germany/index.htm).

I wouldn't presume to recommend work from the Maoist of Anarchist traditions. I'm sure other comrades have their own recommendations.

Thank you.

Hopefully some anarchist and Maoist comrades can complete the list.

Thanks again.

As far as anarchism...

The anarchist FAQ (http://infoshop.org/faq/index.html) is the best introduction online IMO.

Anarcho-Syndicalism 101 (http://anarchosyndicalism.net/) has all sorts of different stuff on anarcho-syndicalism.

The LibCom Library (http://libcom.org/library) also has a great variety of stuff you should check out, including many of the "classics" (Bakunin, for instance).

Finally, Zabalaza's Anarchist Theory (http://www.zabalaza.net/index02.htm) page has some good texts.

Hope this helps.

Anarchy archives (http://dwardmac.pitzer.edu/Anarchist_Archives/)

As the others have pointed out there's a lot of material at MIA which relates to the subjects which you are studying.

As far as Mao and Trotsky go, there are currently ongoing book suggestion threads in this forum.

For learning about Trotsky, I think The Permanent Revolution, The History of the Russian Revolution, and The Revolution Betrayed would be good places to start

I'd agree with that. Brilliantly written, maybe a little biased but who cares...what isn't? Trotsky, no matter what anyone says, was a fantastic writer and he gives you a clear insight into Lenin and the Russian Revolution. Robert Service's biography of Lenin, while not a Marxist text, is still an excellent book and great for a look into Lenin's private life as well as his political one.
