"Man's Worldly Goods" by marxist historian Leo Huberman is in my opinion one of the most important books for socialists to read. From a marxist perspective Huberman describes how feudalism developed into capitalism. The best thing is that it is such an easy read! "Man's Worldly Goods" is actually a real pageturner!
Huberman is not only a great historian, he is a a great writer and educationalist as well. The process of history will become perfectly clear for you, and you will have fun while learning. The chapter on the Soviet Union is however quite flawed.
