Americans are fooled into thinking they are living in a paradise created by capitalism because they have been given a loan by the landlord as a bribe to stay quite. When eventually the loan has to be repayed the shock waves will reverberate around the world.

This is actually the condition most likely to usher in a new era provided the landlords have not by then made themselves impervious to challenge.

The aristocracy of money is no less imperialistic than the old aristocrats of privilege. The justification is in essence identical 'Because it is simply the way things are meant to be - Shut up and know your place or else'.

I think the latest study showed that the average canadian made over $30, 000 a year. Canada is one of the fairest places to live..... but we've been slipping in the UN rankings (we were #1 for, I think, 5 years in a row) because of our treatment of the native peoples....

I had an arguement with my dad about this very idea. The bribing idea, with my mother as well. I told them that I worked in worse conditions, and the higher pay was a bribe to keep quiet, they disagreed and went on about bribery being illegal and how its that we are more appreated blah blah... But it is exactly waht you say "keep in line or else"

Um, he could mean like, the puritans or whatnot........and those mayflower people (unless they were puritans :biggrin:)......personally I don't know much about the early discovery of north america......except for the fact that christopher columbus and his crew brought syphilis to this continent and blamed it on the natives, when they themselves got ill from it, tisk, tisk, ick, those italian ports eh, with the, protitutes, ahem :biggrin:

Another example about contagious diseases, in the 7 years war the British offered peace to a particuarly strong native Ally of France (so basically American Colonials like Washington, who by attacking and failing Fort Duecans (sp) and getting oblittered, while establishing 'fort hope' or some bs name like that, starting the whole damn war...) and gave them as a gift 'medicine' that was not to be opened until they reached their villages. The natives happly took the 'medicine' and opened the box in front of thier villages. What was this medicine then? The cut up bed sheets of men who had died from small pocks. The American atrocities go back to the colonial era as well, and I know this is not the right thread.
