How do you do it? In particular I'm curious about Anarchist tactics. Traditionally Leninists try to due it via papers etc..

Well, round here we don't really raise money for 'the revolution', but we do try to raise money for specific organisations (ABC, migrants networks, ...) and for general actions.
Usually by organising gigs/parties and selling food.
The best known anarchist news paper in Belgium is free.

I don't think the revolution will be officially "funded", other than via peoples actions. But if you need to raise funds often holding an event of some kind like a movie screening with food or booze available and charging say $5 to enter is a good way to make money AND get people to stick around and talk. Selling newspapers is outdated, people can get the info much better/easier on the net. Papers should really exist for those who dont have access to the net (which admittedly, is a lot of people) and then they should be drastically lowered in price. Paying $1 for a tiny paper, especially considering the person buying it is probably rather poor, seems a bit unfair. Rather, I say raise funds elsewhere and use them to print papers you can give away for free :)

This is by far one of the more ridiculous questions asked on Revleft. Money is not to be "raised" for the revolution, but to be reappropriated from the bourgeoisie.

I assume he's talking about fundraising for organisations, demonstrations etc.

He means for demonstration, merchandise ( like patches and flags ), that kind of stuff. Ways to PROMOTE revolution.
Anyway, you can sell pamphlets, you can have small gatherings of like-minded people with a small admission fee, and in the gathering you can sell food and stuff. You can also make a website with bloggings, info, adresses and times of actions and gatherings, and on the website ask for any type of donation. You'll find many Revolutionaries will pay, even if in small amounts, to help stand along side you in revolution.

Money has no meaning in a revolution.
Public support is all that matters.
A militia is worth more than any amount of money.

umm to print shit, to pay for rent to hold meetings and discussion and shit, to make patches/pins/flags, for demonstrations for example, to make stickers, to fund a soup kitchen, to fund a clothes drive, to pay for sound equipment for agitation maybe?, all kinds of shit like that
Yes, unfortunately, while we all want to destroy the capitalist system, we really do not have a choice but to live inside of it until such a time as the movement is large enough to sustain itself independantly...
But the best way to "raise funds" would be by expropriating resources from the enemy, not by goading the proletariat to donate what little money they have.. many radical left organizations have funded themselves via bank robberies, kidnapping ransoms, extortion (targetted against the proper people), and flat-out theft.

Yeah let's just hold hands and sing songs. A revolution will not happen and end overnight, how do you support the militia? During the revolution, the capitalist system will still be in place, it's easier and safer to purchase goods and equipment than risk capture by constantly having to steal them. Rob the enemy a few times and have sufficient funds to purchase the necessities.

In South America the typical aquisition of funds was done by turning up with a small army, taking or 'requisitioning' whatever was needed and leaving a receipt that could be claimed back off the government, once the revolutionaries became the government of course. However this had it's drawbacks. Most of the population were illiterate and judged the value of the receipt on how many letters were on them. However these days most people can read....
