abbielives, why did you make me remember that piece of shit? it was such a crappy novel i couldn't even get through it all without wanting to resurrect Ayn Rand so I could back-hand her across the face.

i dunno if we should make a satire or paradoy of it, but in Illuminatus! an opposing character had written a book called Telemachus Sneezed, which dealed with the loss of capitalism and how it would destroy the world, thus making it neccasary for a strong police force and the overriding of labour laws, thus creating a laissez-faire economy.

Indeed. It has been proven that society can be run without them; in spite of all of the totalitarianism and bureaucratic waste of the Stalinist USSR, the nation quickly grew into a world superpower, granted free and universal healthcare, improved living standards, etc. I have yet to see a poor backward nation do that with capitalism.

That and the fact that Atlas Shrugged is a work of fiction doesn't help Rand's case either! :lol:
