Malcolm X is playing on BET

and I was thinking how much of an inspirational story it is

not because it is a story of a black leader

because it's a story of enlightenment

a man who started his life with a father who was a preacher and killed by klansmen

who then spent his life as a criminal

went to jail

found islam

joined the nation of islam

spoke for the nation of islam

was betrayed by the nation of islam

broke from the nation

went on Hajj

finally left his prejudices behind

and came back a stronger man for the struggle.

It's such an incredible story because he realized his errors and made a complete turn around.

I think sometimes the left is much like Malcolm X

we are so passionate about our struggle that we don't see the best way to accomplish our goals

we are to reactionary.

And like Malcolm we should step back and reflect on where we went wrong and how to go back and do it the correct way

Yeah, it was a pretty good movie. The book didn't leave enough impact on me though because I read Assata soon after, and she is so much more amazing in my opinion because of how her thinking is.

ALthough I have not read alot about Malcom X I do agree he was a great man. Too bad they only show his documentary on one channel one month of the year...

He was a great man, and yes I think that we should look back and try to learn from them so in a future we donīt make the same mistakes....

Yes we can't allow our selves to make the same political and personal mistakes great leaders did
