But what are some other good non-political punk bands from that time? Most of the non-political bands from the late 70s early 80s are all but forgotten (perhaps rightly), but there were a few gems like these guys (although Gregg Turner became a mathematician and outspoken bush opponent), dead milkman, Agent Orange (can't remember any political stuff from them) and other music bordering on punk.

All good bands. The Adolescents' self-titled album is one of my favorite punk albums ever released and I guess you could add a lot of skater punk bands from that time. Interestingly, Angry Samoans released a political album recently:

I haven't heard it, but with songs like:

1 Election Day
2 Gas Chamber
3 Letter To Uncle Sam
4 Let's Burn The Flag

It doesn't seem like they're much of a non-political band anymore. I'd replace them with snuff.

Seriously, they made like one good album, rest is just shite.

If you like skatepunk or more poppunk you will always get better music if you go for swedish bands like Millencolin (old stuff), Satanic Surfers, Venerea etc.

Angry Samaons are a good punk band, but there are better. Take Bad Brains, Black Flag, Minor Threat, the Adolescents, The Germs, The Adicts, etc. They are all better in my book.

Those are are more serious and heavy bands, except adolescents. Those are the kinds of bands I generally like but this was more about funny punk/non-political punk, and not about the more hardcore bands (and not whether that kind of punk can truly be considered punk blah blah blah)...

I've never actually heard the Angry Samoans but I have a feeling they're just going to be shit.

And yeah STJ, Sid was a terrible bass player. Many times he was so fucked up on heroin that the other band members unplugged his bass at shows and he wouldn't even notice.
