For those of you that have Read "Revolutionary Suicide" by Huey Newton you would have read an interesting part where he says that blacks are confused because of what they are told and what they see.
They are told to be good and hardworking and they will be rewarded with a good life and not to live the life of the streets because they will end up dead
but they see the hardworking getting nowhere in dead in jobs. Then they see the pimps and the drug dealers getting money, women, and cars, and nice clothes.
So they are confused what they are told to be is opposite of what acctually happens in their eyes.
And I think comrade Huey's analysis was true not just for blacks but for all society.
From an early age Children are told such things like you have to share, give to the poor, be kind to everyone.
Then they see their parents stepping over the homeless
not noticing that hte man only wants a quarter
They see their parents treat employs and workers like trash.
This whole country contradicts our self.
Johny don't hit that other boy..violence isn't the answer use your words Now lets watch the NEws
Bush: I'm gonna kick your ass saddam
how are we supposed to teach our children that they shouldn't hit others whent he leader of our country is a war mongering cowboy?
Then we try and tell kids to be tolerant but they see Bush's war on Islam and the middle east.
Kids seeing their parent's making fun of muslims.
This country contradicts its self...telling us one thing then doing another.

larissa i think children are god s most innocent creatures
we should teach them the things we would like to see
reality is too cruel
and it is not worth describing
kids have a dream world of their own
that s what childhood is about
we should all try and see the world with their eyes
that would make us better

First off I aint Larissa
however even if we tell a child that that isn't what they will see in the real world.
That's my point
we tell children all this perfect society bullshit but then they don't see it happening

Well of course it's in denile
but the point is that it's self perpetuating
because we know that bullshit isn't real but we tell it to our kids
we need to disencahnt them

Well some of what you are describing is kind of America's 'tough love' policy. Chomsky goes into great detail on this.
Now I am almost 100% certain that Huey has gone into more detail on this particular subject, in so much that he made a bigger picture out of your above statement.
He was describing the above lies and then went on to usher the tone that since this is a lie, how can the black community believe anything anybody says even its leaders. Which was an excellent point, the people on top and the general populace says one thing, but then does another. It is a disenfranchising society, but the black community in particular.
It had several folds, and this is also why some of the best antivietnam protests came from the black community. The black community especially during the 60's was more coherent and active than most other communities. Information was dispersed really well among the community, also it was very social which is not uncommon in poverty stricken groups. Huey gave the above the statement, essentially, "We all have heard this preached as truth, but we all know it is a lie when we hear it, but yet for some reason we choose to believe it." Once the black community was aware of this, they began to question much of society, including the "You are poor because you are lazy or no good." When they realized this wasn't true as well, self-esteem was elivated. They then also realized that vietnam was bullshit and infact was a poor man/black man's war.
He was teaching the question of authority, question of accepted facts, the questioning of one's self worth and everything else surrounding you. The black community then was able to say, "Yah TV news is bullshit, yah we aren't properly portrayed. We aren't in our current condition because we are lazy." They became a questioning community. Therefore a much more aware and progressive community that questioned everything.

Confusion is not what is causing the black communities to have a lot of prostitution, crime, and drug-abuse.

This post isn't about the black communitt as much as I love to talk about it though
it's about society contradicting it's self

I just meant that children go against their morals, not because they see pimps and drug dealers gettin rich. Choldren won't go agisnt their morals when they see Bush bombing the shit out of innocent middle easterners.

An individual being fucked up isn't necassarily a community problem
but if all then the individuals are then it is since they make up the community

The problem is that we are born innocent, but as we grow up we learn how the world really is, thats the point where we wanna change things...
