tag line:If you are offended by this song it is probably about you.

Lyrics
(David Rovics)
Worker's World says that they have all the answers
And Milosevic is a guy that they admire
The ISO says Trotsky is the man
And they'll debate it until they all expire
The industrial workers will lead the revolution
So claims the SWP
No, the truth lies among the lumpen
That's the RCP

The Sparts say the rest can go to hell
And everyone else is a Stalinist
The CP will just do their thing
And pretend the others don't exist
Well I had a realization this morning
When I looked into the red and dawning sun
I've figured out the truth
And I'm forming a party of one

(Chorus)
I am the leader of the workers
And I'll tell you why the Left is suspect
Because there's something you don't understand
Only my line is correct
'Cause I am the vanguard of the masses
And all of you should just follow me
If you doubt my analysis
You must be in the petty bourgeoisie

But I am not sectarian
It's all the rest who are
I work fine in coalitions
As long as I'm the shining star
So bow down to your master
The lastest V.I. Lenin
And off to the camps to all of you
Who'd say, "not this again"

(Chorus)

And I'll have no music at my protests
And none of that goddamn puppetry
I'll just have some somber slogans
No decadent frivolity
My chants will be the right ones
Just the ones that should be said
And my banners we'll wave proudly
Just the proper shade of red

And I will build the party if it kills me
I am solely dedicated to the cause
If I have to stab you in the back
This won't give me pause
'Cause my platform will take us forward
And the ends always justify the means
And you must step aside behind me
Be you Quakers, Jews, anarchists or greens

(Chorus)

Wow, your fierce hatred of Lenin and the Bolsheviks has left almost none of the forums on this board unmolested. Even if the music section is filled with your garbage. I would recommend Okie from Muskogee by Merle Haggard for your New Left and Abbie Hoffman shit.

Those lyrics are really shitty.

"The truth lies in the lumpen
that's the RCP"

What the hell? Do you care to back that up?

What? Either our American comrades are really boring compared to Europe, or he's full of shit. Kind of a shame, I normally like Rovics. Still, I don't see the point of using him for sectarian attacks. I could bring up "I'm a Better Anarchist Than You", but it seems that he has tossed that song in the Memory Hole for whatever reason.

Edit: got it (http://www.leoslyrics.com/listlyrics.php;jsessionid=23CC74BC6A05BEA73814083C 831A6CE4?hid=huF36tSEqZw%3D). Now watch me in all my manly sectarian wrath as I tell everyone that a cool leftist folk singer made fun of anarchism once.

Worker's World says that they have all the answers

Wow.. how similar to dutch leftist secterian bullshit <_<

Really disapointed in Rovics here.. this is not a attempt in getting over petty differences between the left, as rovics "might(?)" have intended it to be, but indirectly it only promotes there petty sectarian attacks. Its like a really bad done copy of the Judean People's Front. Its bullshit that CPUSAérs totally ignore the rest of the left, especially the supporters. the RCP doesnt support the lumpen (wtf? peasants and the bottom class of society is supposed to be inherently lupen?). And i wont even go near the comment on milosevic on the Workers World because the WWP never saintinized milosevic only strongly condemed NATO imperialism and the false terms and lies the devestating war was fought on.

Rovics need to get his facts straight when he tries to scapegoat leninists as inherently sectarians. This makes him a sectarian himself.

just to quote my own sig;

we think that powerful and lifeful movement is impossible without differences. "true conformity" is possible only in the cemetery

Get over it rovics, get real

And alot of the anarchists, eviormentalists and all the other form of self-proclaimed marxists are even sectarian on their critics on their biased critics leninist , so dont even go there.

The music is great though, as always

Reminds me of those Spartacists that we encountered at Camp Bützow! You know, the Spartakus Youth Movement consisting of three men, ages ranging from 30-60. :D

Spart: Hi can i interest you in a brochure?
You: no, im not really interested
Spart: But i just want to let you know that Lenin wrote in his polemics with Kautsky...
You: I'll better get going now...
Spart: Fine suit yourself, your loss mate

I gotta give them kudo's for their neverending effort though. But breaking up the SDAJ/WFDY lecture on imperialism in the middle by shouting their own vision on radicalisation of the peacemovement through our speakers and therefore sabotaging it, is straightout banal.

It went more like this:

Spart: <says something in German>
Me: Entschuldigung, aber ich verstehe nur ein Bischen deutsch.
Spart: <in English>: Well, we can do it in English then... Lenin's polemic against Kautsky, blablabla.
Me: Umm, this isn't the right time, sorry.
Spart: <persists>
Me: Look, I'm really busy now, so if you'll excuse me...

I'm not altogether sure what they were on about. One of them also made some really long statement during the discussion on the people's resistance against the Iraq War. I think they were criticizing the position of giving any kind of support to the resistance at all, and tried to compare themselves to Lenin criticizing Kautsky regarding WWI or something.

hmm for being spart those guys were kinda fun. they had a brochure about mumia which was kinda interessting read. also their flyer did some bashing on other trot parties in germany XD (and apart from repeating "stalinist beaurocracy" and "deformed workers state" about 200 times the text was ok too ^^

Rovics is best when he deals with the harships people are dealing with under capitalism and occupation; some of his songs about the Palestinians are really good. When he does this kind of Leninist basing, though, he just comes across as a self-satisfied anarchist.
