Hello everyone, my name is Ranger and I am new to the Revolutionary Left website.

I live in a family that has its roots in various politics, and so decided not long ago that it was time for me to join a political party, as I also have a major interest in politics. My parties that I looked into were always on the left, and minor parties, including the Communist Party of England and Wales, the Socialist Worker Party and the Socialist Labour Party. Being a poor British student (good old New Labour!) I looked into the Socialist Party (known as Socialist Alternative on the ballot) and the Socialist Students who only ask for donations rather than subscription fees. I am going to university next year, and the one in particular I am looking into has an active Socialist Student wing, which is pleasing!

My other interests include computing, Xbox 360ing and film, as I work at a cinema. Sailing is also a passion of mine.

If I had to describe myself politically, I would say I fit the democratic socialist theory, and would place my in the dead middle between a centrist and a revolutionary communist.

Welcome to the forum. We generally have a loose policy concerning democratic socialists particularly when they're here to learn so I encourage you to look around and post any questions you may have.

Hey Ranger.

I was a member of socialist students at Uni. Its good just to meet comrades and stuff.

Your group will probably be small so form coalitions with the labour party student group and SWP/respect guys and any of the environmentalist guys etc. Then you can get things done together.

Also try run for every position in the union.

Can I ask what policy that is?

Thanks for the advice, though I'm not sure about the Labour Party, the student s are probably more left than the party I guess.

As long as they are here to learn, we usually let them be.
