I was unaware that there was an alternative video for HSB.

alternate vid (http://youtube.com/watch?v=pXSrDYjjwIk)

This one seems alot more creepy somehow.
Maybe Kurt lying in the grass.

Appreciate Nirvana here.
APPRECIATE!

I love grunge, but Nirvana was definitely not the best grunge band. I'd pick early Pearl Jam or even Soundgarden over them any day.

I thought that that was gonna be the title for In Utero.

And there's nothing wrong with raising the dead.

lol, those are like the two worst grunge bands by far.

mudhoney is by far the best grunge band, actual grunge.

and nirvana was good, nevermind was just a little too slick for me.

Nirvana and grunge did, at the time, serve a purpose. I am forever greatful to Nirvana for instigating in me a special kind of relationship with music, but I would never claim that they were great musically.

Nirvana were not wholly original, and Kurt was neither a skilled vocalist or guitarist...but they fitted.

Loving Nirvana my have gone out of fashion, but I don't think this should necessitate such a backlash against them. There are worse bands out there..

Mudhoney sucks ass, sorry to say.

Since we're talking about grunge, another band worth mentioning is Temple of The Dog, also great.

Hmm, Im such a 90s kid. Right now Im annoyed with 99% of the music thats out there, I really love Nirvana...I mean I grew up on them. As for good grunge bands, do Alice in Chains count?

I like grunge. I like Nirvana, Mudhoney, Soundgarden etc etc... Does the first Foo Fighters album class as "grunge"?

Yes, Alice in Chains was also a grunge band.

They are pretty good.

Go and fucking jump off a cliff and pray you land on a stalagmite.

I was thinking of the foos last night. For somebody who got famous by being Kurt Cobain's drummer, he's a pretty one-dimensional character with no complexity. He's carved himself out as the cheery nice guy of rock.

Nah I'm good ta, but Grohl is a fantastic drummer, you can't deny that. QOTSA's Songs For The Deaf. Great drumming. I don't like the Foo Fighters really now, In Your Honor was really bad. I don't like Taylor Hawkins either.

Dave Grohl has carved himself a pretty spot as a multi-instrumentalist and song writer. I think you are being a tad unfair to the fella.

90's rock is one of my favorite genres of music but Nirvana and especially Kurt Cobain were nothing great. Dave Grohl has always been the much much better musician. I don't think of Dave as a one dimensional character. More like a multi-skilled musician. Great on guitar, drums and vocals. Kurt wasn't great on anyone of those three.

HE'S NO FUCKING PERSONALITY!

He may be a multi-instrumentalst. So fucking what? Everything about him is nice and polite! I'm not denying his musical skills, but WHERE'S THE FUCKING HEART?!

Kurt on the other hand had charisma, evident by the fact that there's people who weren't even born when he died listening to his stuff. You can see in interviews how fucked he was.
When was the last time Dave Grohl gave an interview in a yellow ball gown?

Since when is it cool to be a suicidal loser? I really don't care about the musicians personality. You only get the feeling of their personality from TV and horrible channels like MTV. I try to stay away from both of those things and especially the latter. It isn't artist's personal life that I care about. I care about the art that is produced. Dave has produced some wonderful music. I can't say the same for Kurt.

Kurt was a rock star. Hyped by the media to no end and plastered all over MTV. That, to me, is not what music is about.

Wow, old thread here.

There's a new one discussing the same subject here: Was Nirvana really as great as they are made out to be? (http://www.revleft.com/vb/nirvana-really-great-t113406/index.html)

I'll move the recent posts to that thread and close this one for necromancy.
