Just decided I'd let myself known since I have becoming more and more active.

My name is Arielle (obviously)
Age: 18
I'm a libertarian communist, and I'm very vocal in my community in trying to have my voice heard and others like me.

I'm from New York City but I currently live at South Jersey for schooling.

I'm in a very red part of a blue state. Ocean County is not that very nice of a place to be. From neonazis to super conservatives to southerners who believe "THE SOUTH SHALL RISE AGAIN!" and it's a very uncomfortable living situation. ^^ But there's always that little glimmer of hope in this area.

Anyway.. I'm very much into philosophy and I've mostly been reading those forums. But I look forward to talking to you all more and hopefully going to functions on the east coast and maybe meeting a few people. :)

Hi, Welcome :)

Remember; Anarchists seriously have more fun. Surveys prove it here (http://www.revleft.com/index.php?act=ST&f=12&t=66540) :D

(and while you're at it, vote!)

That poll is suspect for reasons unmentionable.

Incidentally, who decided that the Republican color would be red? It would seem to me that they should be colored either white or brown.

Also, great name.

Because for example, during the French revolution and afterwards, teh republicans where the people in favor of the republic as a very democratic state.
People who favoured universal suffrage were the people on the left of the assemblée nationale during the revolution. They adopted the red color because the people adopted the red flag.
The American republicans just fucking changed their ideology and are now the most fucking hated party in the world.

Yeah, but even in the 1984 election, the Republicans were the "blue" party, and the Democrats were "red." Anyone remember the "sea of blue" used to describe Reagan's victory?

Brown and white are for fascism and monarchy respectively, which is why I suggested them.

Anybody want to split this?

I really do not understand why New Jersey is considered a "Blue State", they barely hit over the margin to give Kerry his 15 last election. Not to mention that if it was not for the bases in New Jersey their state income would plummet. That toppled with the fact that Corzine bought his way into the Senate, then into the Governor position doesn't really sit well with me.
