First of all, let me say that I am posting this on behalf of a colleague translator, and I'm posting it because I think it can open an interesting debate...
(The author is Tomás Rosa Bueno)
"Since, AFAIK, the smallpox virus only exists in 3 or 4 heavy-security labs in the US and in Russia, why are the US and Britain suddenly afraid of "terrorist attacks" using this virus and why is France innoculating 150 health workers against smallpox?
Do they know something that we do not? As with the "proofs" on the Osama-Taleban connection in the 9/11 tragedy, they are *not* telling us everything they know about Saddam's WMDs, because they *can't*. It's not just lies, it's concealment and then lies. CYA, so to say. As usual,
*everybody* is concealing something and lying about it.
This "smallpox alert" is probably just a rehash of the ridiculous "white powder" terror campaign. The fact that the Chirac/Schroeder clique has interests opposed to those of the Bush/London doormat clique in the "Iraq liberation" spectacle does not necessarily mean that they won't profit from the general terror climate, and use it to their own ends.
But I'd be very happy if someone provided us with a *complete* list of US "gifts" to their ex-good friend Saddam.
Tomás "The Pox on Them" Bueno..."
Any comments?
