ok. so I been watching testimonials from guatemalan girls ages 9 to 15 who worked for some sort of Frozen Food company. we all know the drill.

12 to 18 hours work day
a couple 5 minute breaks
35 cents a day
frisking and beatings.

this girl are on their feet all fucking day chopping veggies up so that people like you and I can just toss em in the microwave and voila! there it is dinner!!! <_<

this girls get cut because they are asked to work super fast and only first aid they have is a band-aid.

I showed this videos to a friend of mine she got all bent ouf shape and we talked about how we should stop buying frozen veggies.. i know thats like a super hippy thing to do. but we also wonder.."does that make us sleep better at night?" she pointed out something like "well if we all stop buying from that company, an other will come around.. and those people will be out of a job"

i was like "you called that a fucking job???" she is like i know is fucked up. but thats all they got there. what else can they do???

so yeah.. what the fuck can these people do to make a living. and it dawn me.. not a damn thing as longest this corporate globalization and free trade keeps taking over the 3rd world...

but is that the ONLY answer and alternative at this time? or in the near future? the downfall of capitalism. because in all honesty..we know thats not like.. next month... :(

You know, if this were in "opposing ideolgoies," the cappies would be screaming "they can quit and get other jobs!" I love how you pointed out (though we all know it it's good to drive this home) that capitalism encourages monoculture, and that monoculture encourages brutal treatment of workers. But back to your question...

It's impossible to strike. Scabs are everywhere in the third world, and they are desperate. Tis a shame. But it basically means that if these workers try to strike, they will get replaced immediately. Don't even think about appealing to the government, or an NGO, for redress. Ain't gonna happen. So, what?

There is only one real option, and that is for the exploitive practices to be brought to an end by these workers themselves. That in turn can only be done when they own this plant and can regulate their hours and conditions. I see no reason at all why the transition to socialism shouldn't take place twenty minutes from now, other than the fact that people are afraid.

A solution that I see can be achieved, that hopefully in the future I can work on, would be to start an employment agency that sends people to work for leftist companies, that way we can fight the companies and the people won't lose money because they'll get new jobs through the agency. Of course leftist companies would have to be made and this does promote capitalism a bit, at least we are freeing people from their oppressors. Of course this isn't going to happen for a long time but we can start now.

I guess you, R P A S, can't do anything right now to releave them, yet that does not mean nothing can be done. We must go on with this struggle against capitalism.
