Does anyone have a good article/critique of the world bank? I am well aware of the world bank but I am looking for a good article on the negative effects of the organization and specific examples of negative effects of loaning great amounts of money to 3rd world nations. I cant seem to find anything through my searches. Thank you!

From globalissues piece:

The GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of the poorest 48 nations (i.e. a quarter of the world’s countries) is less than the wealth of the world’s three richest people combined.

This simple fact alone should be more than enough for the rational mind to come to the conclusion that capitalism needs not to be reformed, but completely destroyed.

I can recommend a good book for you: "Development Debacle: The World Bank and the Phillipines". Uses that country as an example of how World Bank programs generally tend to perpetuate underdevelopment and dependency on imperialism.

Downside is, it's a little old.
