View Full Version : Iraqi Communist Opposition? - How Strong?

I was just wondering if it's at all possible, since the Kurds wish to establish a marxist state if they gain their independence, and I hear there's a sizeable Iraqi Communist Party that resists Sadaam - how possible is it for the Commies to capture Iraq before(or after?) the American Colonization?

Not very likely unless someone from the outside help them. Like China.

I've always found it odd that Saddam Hussein idolizes Stalin but is not a Communist.

Why do you find it odd? Stalin was as much of a communist as Saddam is.

Stalin was very much so a socialist, but that is for another thread. Saddam apparantly has a cult-like worship of Stalin: having portraits and photographs taken of himself in the fashion of Stalin, such things as these right down to Saddams little hair above his mouth. It's a shame a leader of a military dictatorship has to idolize a socialist (albeit a socialist who, even I admit, used sometimes questionable methods) leader.

i think that the iraqis are quite indifferent about revolution, 'cause they are kept ignorant of governing by saddam... or any such dictators.

If you wish to discuss this; start it in another thread. This thread is about a communist opposition in Iraq; not Stalin.

The Workers-Communist Party of Iraq has one seat in the Iraqi Parliament out of about 450 (correct me if I am mistaken), stupid Americans are actually arming some members the W-CPI and they know very well that the W-CPI are planning to try overthrow whatever government the U$ of A tries to impose on the Iraqi people... stupid bastards

By the way, my signature is the quote of the man who founded the W-CPI who sadly passed away recently from cancer, he has assumed sainthood amongst marxist circles in Iraq and Iran and I believe his article on september 11 (available from W-CPI branch websites arounds the world) is very insightful

In 1992 the Iraqis rose up against Saddam after the Gulf War. America let Saddam bomb them to oblivion. America just wants a new dictator, they don't care about the peoples wishes so I see very little hope of communism in Iraq with America as schizophrenic as it is.

Yet there is always hope (http://www.che-lives.com/cgi/community/topic.pl?forum=13&topic=629)

The US will crush any chance of our comrades establishing any communist-based government.

It's funny how the US never mention the Kurdish governmental preference.
