I found this book at a local bookstore, its called "Comrades". Its about the history of world communism. It analyzes the success and the failures of past communist governments. It talks about the origins and history of communism before Marx. Its probably the first book that I have found that analyzes communist governments, not communist theory from a neutral point of view. I typically find leftist literature, bland, and hard to get through, but I'm having trouble putting it down. I would highly recommend picking it up.

I read a review of it in The Economist, I might check this out from the library when I have time.

Service is a bourgeois reactionary. His "biographies" of Lenin and Stalin are hostile towards them. A Trotsky bio by him is in the works. He does show Krushecov and Trotsky as distorters of Soviet history though in his books though.

hello Comrade Marcel,
do you know the writer David Porter? If so your oppinion please.
He's edited or compiled 'Vision on Fire" and I can get a handle on wether or not he's giving me the straight Goldman or is cutting and pasting to please himself. And just Porter please, if you hate Goldman that's a different issue.
