What will happen if there is a catastrophic event (ie global warming) that sends us back into the dark ages, do we then have to progess back up the marxist chain of progression, do new systems get created, do we just jump back up to where we were (when we rebuild)?

Something new might be created but since our accumulated knowledge hasn't been wiped, I don't see why we would have to progress through such historical social phases again.

I am talking epic doomsday catastophy, where we 9the remainder) do actually go back to being a hunter gatherer society.

If we were still to survive such a catastrophe then I see no reason why we stay stuck in such a stage as long as we still have the scientific capability to rebuild.
