There has been enough evidence documented by thousands of doctors and scientists throughout all livable continents of the world which validate the concept and existence of the AIDS virus.

Thus, denying the existence of the AIDS virus is like the pope saying that sexual partners should not use condoms in casual sexual situations. The rhetoric of the people in question does not or should not matter here.

Aids reappraisal.. is sad -- and dangerous. There are a limited amount of reasons why people would claim to deny by scientific research established facts like this, but even fewer ones why someone would do it sincerely. It's either a case of superstition or pathological denial of reality for a variety of reasons; mental illness, the inability to confront ones own death, etc. But most often claimed adhering to aids denial is bound to come from the mouths of corrupt officials, politicians not willing to deal with the problem, and other conmen.

That these people can use leftist rhetoric, like the authors of this Notaids page, should unfortunately not come as a surprise. As the link provided by bcs shows, for instance Thabo Mbeki of the ANC, which describes itself as leftist and is in a three-party alliance where the South African Communist Party also belongs, has supported aids deniers recently, while his country faces an enormous AIDS epidemic.

According to one source I found online, by the end of 2005, there were five and a half million people living with HIV in South Africa, and almost 1,000 AIDS deaths occurring every day. A person with respect and authority denying the problem at that stage equals mass murder, much like the late pope John Pauls anti-condom sentiments, like CFF pointed out. That person must be seen as responsible of worsening the problem.

Whatever the source and the reasons, public aids denial is something communists ought to discredit and fight by all means available. Literally, the more the problem is successfully minisculed and brushed under the carpet, the more human beings are likely to fall victims for this disaster. Ignorance is indeed the worst enemy of those determined to fight and stop AIDS, and what has been one of the main roles of communists if not fighting ignorance? Especially among our own ranks idiocy like aids denial must not be tolerated.

We must be the beacon of truth in this world and strongly denounce denial of reality for any reason.
