Why? Who first? Most important: Good or bad?

There lunatics for everything. Think of something. No matter how stupid, obscene, preverse ur thought is, you`ll find people ready to believe it, defend it, practice it.

I remember reading once the suggestion that "the devil" is the great underground hero of the human race. That while we publicly bow to the accepted gods of our society, we secretly admire that great spirit of total rebellion and wish we had or could acquire the courage to imitate him.
It's also been said that the anarchist Bakunin was an admirer of the devil--supposedly he once said that if a revolutionary MUST be religious, then clearly the devil is the only worthy supernatural entity around. Anyone in total opposition to the "Lord of the Universe" can't be ALL bad.

Why? To piss people off
Who first? Fuck knows, probably some time after the ancient greeks, conversion of pan.
Good Or Bad? Bad, you get some crazy fuckers out there who do stuff because the devil has told them to.

I'll save Redstar the agony of posting that some people may also say "God made me do it". So, to stand in opposition of Redstar, I'd say Satanism is fine as long as the people don't harm anyone. They could come to my door and evangelize for all I care, but they can't do anything harmful to themselves or others (in a physical manner, because Redstar will start talking about "mental" harm).

Nothing wrong with it, who knows maybe the devil won the war with god in the christian bible and just said he was god in the bible. There was suppose to be an angel that defied god's will and took him head on into battle. He lost and then went to hell. Who is to say he didn't win and sent god to hell and took over from there on in? We wouldn't be any the wiser.
I think Satanism just gives christianity another religion to prosecute people for. Christians make up weird shit like "They perfom sacrifices", when in reality it is their bible that has sacrifices all over in it.
I don't know a lot about satanic worship, but it can't be a whole lot more nuttier than a bible that tells men to cut off a chunk off their most sensetive part, kill hundreds of thousands, split seas, flood the earth, an ark that evidently had 2 of everything living animal - so like 500,000 species or so and some christians think that dinosaurs were placed here to trick man into thinking the earth is older than it is.
Anyone in total opposition to the "Lord of the Universe" can't be ALL bad.
I agree with that statement 100%

One type of satanism is childish the other is cruel barbarism.
Kids who dress in black and "worship satan" as a way of establishing a youth subculture, are just that... Kids will be kids. But preverted sadists that use satanism to legitimise their particular brand of criminal behavior (murder, child molestation, you name it) deserve harsh punishment.

I think that goes for any group that would do that, with out saying. I believe criminal behavior by definition means doing something against the law, generaly punishable.
I see the things you are stating above coming more from the christian groups than satanic groups. And no not just kids do it, it is a religion and you buying into all that perverse nature shit is just you buying into the christian propaganda of anti-satanism. People into satanism are no more likely to commit henious crimes than any other group of people. Christians have painted an ugly picture of Satanism with their religious prosecution ways and with your statement above have obviously bought in to it.

Its basically "atheism with an attitude". They don't really worship the devil.

For a very thought-provoking read along the same lines, check out Memnoch The Devil by Anne Rice. Her best, in my humble opinion.
And what El Che has shared, exactly.
According to myth, Lucifer was an angel. He rebelled. So rebel youth love him. He's cool. Let's dress goth and rebel. Cool.

Spot on, no god or devil involved, you kind of see humans as gods, if you get me, nothing to do with Lucifer, the Morning Star Beelzebub or anyone else in that category.

Preverse, yes. But not from christian point of view. What exactly am I calling preverse here do you know? Criminal, ignoble actions, thats what. I`m sure you condemn them too and you certainaly don`t sound like a christain, so what exactly are we discussing here? Do you reject my association of satanism with this sort of behavior? But it`s the truth. Hardcore satanism is the promotion of the i-can-do-anything-i want behavior. Worse, you should do everything that gives u pleasure with no further considerations. I wont get into more grafical details on some of the rituals involved. I think you get the picture.
"I think that goes for any group that would do that, with out saying."
What I`m saying here is that you have a "group" whos purpose, whos reason to exist is to "do that".

Some communist organizations exist to promote overthrowing the government...should they be outlawed since overthrowing the government is illegal?
I once talked to a Satanist and listened to his beliefs...at the end I was like, "Dude, you're not a satanist, you're a republican!"
El Che

Who said anything about outlawing?
The only organisations u can outlaw are crime sindicates (as in juridical figure). Insofar as "satanic" organisations exist to practice crime, they can and should be outlawed.

Satanism is just devil-Christianity.
To believe in and and worship the antogonist of the bible, you first have to believe in what is written in the bible, therefore Satanists are not atheists with an attitide.
Every religion, no matter what it is, causes phycological harm and creates an unhealthy society. Claiming you existence and reason for living on an inexistent, omnipotent being is unhealthy. All religion is some form of organized superstition with a comedicly complex story behind it.
Satanism is nearly as stupid as a god-Christianity.

I was a satanist for a while when I was a kid, maybe 12 or something.
I really don't have a lot to say about it, other than that you should read the Satanic Bible, a pretty cool book in many ways. It's not so much about worshipping evil as it is about realism. For instance, it says you MUST give a person a chance to repent and make amends if he disrespects you or your belongings. Then, if he does not, you must destroy him
Anyway, it was a phase I went through, I was really into Death Metal and such. I don't recommend it at all, except for the imagery which is semi-cool. I think I still have some of my drawings of inverted crosses and pentagrams :)

Are you still into death metal?

Not really. I don't dislike it or anything, but I don't listen to it much any more. I still listen to punk and hard metal though.
