Why is it that countries like N. Korea and the Russian fed. as well as the USSR Parade their shit (ICBM's, tanks, planes, other things) and countries like us just sit and watch.

Its a show of military might. The reason that other countries don't do anything is because a lot of these countries can actually defend themselves, unlike the usual targets of Western imperialism.

Most countries have military parades/celebrations but not all of them parade heavy military hardware. It's a show of strength and meant to send a message to those countries who are watching.

well countries like the US and Canada as well as European countries.

I guess America refuses to have such parades to evoke fear into the little countries that want Nukes (Aran). Cause they know of the offencive power the US possess but they just dont know what it looks like.

Ours sucks, because we have nothing to show, still whole military is represented and that means lots of air polution when helos and fighter planes fly by.

I think it shows a nightmare of bureaucratic entanglement, rather than 'communist pride'.

Hold on, institutionalised brutality and iron-fisted millitarism are something to be proud of?

right, because the use of proletariat-produced weapons to fight the wars of capital is SOOO communist

Possibly because it was an effort of the people to build those weapons, and over there they're proud of the fact.

Over here, we hear it's "private enginuity"...even though the govt (with your money) funded 99% of those weapons from infancy, until they can be developed and the govt can buy more of them and they can be given a civilian use and we buy them...even though we funded those projects in the first place via the govt...

has anybody wondered why the people never kept ontrol over the use of all that shit we funded the development of? Isn't the internet, or every computer, or every bank, or any other thing we paid for really obviously everyones property?

sorry. i'm preaching to the choir, not to mention ranting horribly...

If Stalin, Lenin, Gorbachev, Khrushchev, and the rest of the bureaucrats are communists, well then it seems like I'm not sure who's side I'm on.

well actually, it depends on which day they do it, like may 1st, the soviets parade to celebrate the raising of their flag over the riechstag, marking the defeat of fascism in europe(for awhile anyway, till the coldwar) so in other words they celebrating their glorious victory over the nazi fascists.

that would be may 9th, comrade.
may 1st was "International Worker's Solidarity Day" when people would have "demonstrations" and such but usually no military parade.

The military has always been used to oppress people. The colonised and poor never had access to weapons, untill the 19th century. The newly liberated people or revolutionary oppressed are always keen to show their military might, to show the oppressors that they are ready to fight for their freedom.

You can see this in individuals as well as liberated nations. In Palestine, young children can bee seen holding ak47s. Fidel Castro wears a military uniform (not as much as he used to). All these people are basically saying they are ready to use violence against their violent oppressors. Fidel Castro by wearing a military uniform is saying the people are united and will use violence to continue the revolution against the imperialist.

and countries like us just sit and watch.

And what are "our countries" meant to do? Or what do you think they should do?
