But it seems that in the US that people are quick to judge and slow to actually listen, because they've been told already that socialism is bad. They also have a certain hang-up with the symbolism of Communism. They see the hammer and sickle and automatically tune it out. They are just pre-programmed that way from their youth. I have seen the same reactions with the National Socialists on their forums as well. My opinion is that we just keep talking about the inequality, prejudices, discrimination, racism, hatred, and exploitation of capitalism; and the rest will fall into place. Focus on the working class struggle.

1. We're telling them it's not. Socialism works, to an extent, but isn't a permanent solution, the "general populace" needs to grasp that little fact.
2. Are you suggesting a new symbol to rally behind? That's a pretty tall order, but it could be done. I'll make a thread about this later.
3. Talk tends to get nowhere. Eventually, the discussion will become a war of Nazi analogies, per Godwin's law. Action will be necessary eventually.

I see that this thread is pretty old and the posts are sparse, think we could liven it up? This is something I've genuinely been curious about for a while. I live in a fairly rural town, and of course, most people would be against such radical ideas/changes.

Does anyone have any simple posters/fliers that could be printed out and hung up? Someone already stated that people will automatically discredit something if they see certain words or symbols, such as "socialism" or the hammer and sickle. I dunno, I guess I'm looking for something that would make people think or to educate themselves. Even if it was just one or two people, that would be better than nothing.

Actually, I like a select few of these posters and other downloadables from CrimethInc (it was linked earlier in this thread). I'm looking for something that wouldn't be using a ton of ink, but still gets the message across in a concise and easy-to-read manner. There are a few good ones on this site.
