Why don't we, as Socialists, agree with charities/volunteer relief agencies?

Charities are not forces of class conflict. They are just a sticking plaster on capitalism that treats the working class or whoever the charity case may be as "victims". As socialists we believe that we will not get what we want by begging, the working class can only take power by seizing it.

Quite correct. That being said though. There is nothing wrong with charities in of themselves and it is perfectly okay to give to charity. They simply aren't a solution.
