I'm starting to notice a pattern. for the most part IF one of the above(protest or march) does not end peacefully at the end of the day. chances are it will turn into some sort of riot sparked by a couple individuals, which ultimately leads to Police repression and innocent people being arrested and beaten.

Yet again an other victory for the oppressing state and an other defeat for the people. People that were demanding what's rightfully theirs. JUSTICE! and FREEDOM!

This seems to happen protest in and protest out. a march or rally, followed by Police repression and then the end of it. go home. go on your lower class dwelling... <_<

My question is; What should be the next step? forward. not backwards. It seem that when the pigs come out with their riot gear and weapons we are forced to give up and retreat. and It's over.

What do you guys think is neccessary to get pass this stage and go on to a sort of resistance mode and put up some sort of "barricade" (i know im getting all 'Les Miserables' on ya'll but bare with me! hehe) Some how last longer and put up a better fight against the state repression.

Obviously I think it's essential for these particular people that are resisting. to be some what class conscious so that There's more direction, more of an agenda as to what to do. as oppose of just "fucking cops up" you know? cus if the resistance is victorious there has to be a step forward. not just celebrate a half ass "victory"

Won't you guys say this type of clashes are a great opportunity to ignite a change, possible a revolution... gain international sympathy, eventually support?

discuss..

That's not far fetched at all. In Greece, when the police harass the Anarchist bloc they are met with petrol bombs, bricks, and bats. Not that these are necisserally appropriate, but it's far from fantasy.

I don't think we should petrol bomb the police on marches for say, immigrant rights. Because the media would have a field day. But there are some ways of keeping the police off your back.

Iron or wooden framed banners, heavy flagpoles, tight formations, all these can help.

But fighting the police wont gain international support, even if you have mass support.

I agree with both posts, it's important that people start realizing that the cops are there to break us up and kick the crap out of us. We need to start defending our marches and fighting back (at the very least, we should go on the offensive if you ask me).

IMO, American activists are starting to get the message, though, you can see that there is more and more of a commitment to standing up against the cops in many demonstrations in the US.
