Influences of Religion in Politics

I was wondering about the part the three Abrahamitic religions has played in politics through history, but mostly how it is today. How much does governments around the world use these three religions in their way of ruling their countries, and how many wars can really be blamed on these three? One thing that comes to my mind is the conflict between Israel and Palestine, how much do you think is politics and how much is religion in that type of conflict?
