Hi all,

I registered many months ago but I never got around to actually posting anything. Forgive me if this is the wrong place to ask this question

I am a 22 year old dude from England,UK. I am orignally from Ghana, West Africa. I have only now started to become politically aware of whats going on in the world and the things around me.

I have had this question on my mind for a while but there was never a decent place to post such a question. Me and my friends have discussed it many times.

What will happen to Cuba after castro passes?

I can't help but think it will become another pawn of capitalism.

All replies welcome.

thanks

The element that will identify the Cuba's future is not Fidel but Cuban citizen's lovfe for revolution, liberty and equality.

First, Fidel's brother -i think- will take over the post of Fidel and Cuban citizens will defend their homeland againist imperialism and capitalism for the sake of Fidel and Che....

Secondly, All of the Latin America countries (especially Venezuela) have been backing up Cuba so i dont think that USA or any other capitalist country will have enough courage to dare to invade Cuba...

Thats a good answer and I was just saying the same thing.

Do you think the people in Cuba have that love for the revolution and do they want to keep things the way they are or do they want capitalism?

seeing how smothly the period of castros sickness is going i doubt that cuba will change alot without castro.

Apart from the small percentage leaving cuba for economical reasons there doesnt seem to be alot of pro-capitalist movements in cuba.

A younger cadre of ambitious professional bureaucrats will take control and begin to liberalise the economy while centralising political control even more. They will rely on old revolutionary slogans in order to justify their dictatorial control and new economic dealings with the 'west'.

In other words it will become a new China. This is the inevitability of Leninism.

This thread was posted twice....yet seeing both threads show you a difference in opinion over what would happen post-Castro.

The people in the first thread said that things would continue on their course under the people's will (and/or that of Fidel's brother)

Here it mentions how it would become a "new China"; socialist in name only.

No one can really ascertain what could happen, well...maybe the people in the island can take a fair guess.

However, in my opinion; I think TAT's opinion is likely to happen.

P.S. Since there are 2 threads...shouldn't someone merge it?
