View Full Version : Politcally Lost - what alternative?

There seem to me no real organisations that are upholding a basic Marxist-Leninist political programme. Where the working class exists, and is organised (however maligned its historic role is by misleadership) it is not being reached by radical alternatives.
The Labour Party still, in my view, has a strong working class trade union base - but it has been ignored by the far-left in an attempt to provide quick-cut solutions to the problems we face. Meaning there is no viable organisation providing the work that needs to be done here - there is no organised far-left party inside it, that is really making the right points and linking up with others to do this. The far-left groups like Socialist Appeal that are in the Labour Party are largely busying themselves fawning uncritically over Chavez, with no long-term view of the potential instability of these regimes.
While the left in the U.K. has capitulated to sloganeering around religion or abandoning its Marxism for the purposes of appealing to "broader layers" which seem never really materialise. Where there are groups campaigning for a Marxist principled party - they are disorganised to the point of absurdity.
I'm at a complete loss politically. I know what I believe, but there is no organisation out there that seems to agree with me!

Where do you live?
I seriously think you should consider the Communist League, even though we are not Marxist-Leninist, but do hold that Lenin made several important contributions to Marxist theory. Our site is currently down, but you can ask me anything you want on the CL and we can talk.

Well, I am a Leninist... I'll gladly have a look at your site when it comes back up. My knowledge on the CL is limited. The questions I would ask relate to the points covered in the main post.

They seem to have abandoned revolutionary politics and instead focus on the election of left labour MP's and Communist MPs. Fair enough - but what else? They talk about "extraparlimentary" activity, but it is never clear what they mean.

We in the League are more of an amalgamation of comrades from different trends, and we do hold on to several of Lenin's theories.
Any questions you would like to bring up?
Yeah, apologies for the League site being down; we're trying to transfer to a new domain and server space and are having some problems getting the new site to work, while the old one went down for reasons we're not sure of. We should have the new one up within the week.

The League site is now up. Go ahead and check it out. I suggest and recommend that you read our Basic Principles first, to get a taste of what we are about.

Is also a good way to start. Not that I'm against recruitment.

They are leading participants in the Stop The War Coalition, and are active within the trade union movement.

I would be wary of the CBP. their policies are quite national rather than internationalist. Plus they support labour in the hope that it will become a working class party again.

These things and and for themselves mean very little!

How about the Communist party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist)?
Or maybe the Revolutionary Communist party of Britain (Marxist-Leninist)?
I know people in these groups, and they are good, devoted comrades.
Never give up hope, comrade. Not to be a sectarian, but if you feel that no organization is upholding a proper revolutionary line where you live, you could always start a new one. Chances are, a lot of communists will follow your lead, as they are probable sick of the socia-democratic rubbish that passes for red these days too. That's what I did, and in a few months, my organization became the strongest on Vancouver Island.
Food for thought.
