A Perfect Race - Should there be one?

Me and my one other commie friend were debating this today. He thinks that having a perfect race would make the world a better palce. I said that imperfection can make things better. Making a prefect race is the equivalint of brainwashing i think. It's not fair to judge people and say whetther you can go have kids or not. should impefect people be denied that joy?

It is our imperfections that makes us human. A perfect society would be so incredibly mundane and boring. For a human being to be "perfect" we would have to destroy our emotions.

I recently found out that there was a society in England at the start of the twentieth century called the Fabian Socialists - who supported the idea of eugenics.

They agreed with what the British government was doing at the time - taking children from Britain and sending them to Australia to work as servants/slaves so that they could help make Australia "white". It was sickening.

Sad to say, it wasn't just England. A WIDE variety of "progressives" in the U.S. from 1890-1930 or so combined their various notions of reforms with arguments in favor of depriving "inferiors" of the right to reproduce and thus "improving" the "race". Many women were sterilized against their will or even without their knowledge for such offenses as "pauperism", "promiscuous behavior", and "feeble-mindedness".

Even U.S. schoolbooks as late as 1960 were STILL arguing that "low-IQ" people should be stopped from having children.

And, if you'll pardon the expression, the idea of "a perfect race" is so retarded it drools. :cool:

even if someone did manage to create a 'homogenous' race ( by cloning for example ) it would have horrible consequences. During each meiosis ( spelled correctly? my english sucks... ) there is a process of recombination of the genes, which evolution 'invented' to ensure hereditary variation. The reason why genetic variation is important is quite simple.

Assuming an individual is perfectly adapted to his environment ( which will probably never be the case ), and his children and the children of his children carry the same or a very similar genepool, this would work out well for maybe one or two generations. But as soon as the living conditions change, the entire 'race' would simply be wiped out, since it would be unable to adapt. The less hereditary variation, the less likely the survival of the species.

Has anyone seen "Rabbit proof fence"? It's about half aboriginal (that a word?) girls who are put in some instiution to make them "white" but they escape and try to find their way home to their mother.

The Übermensch is a being you only could reach by some high-precision lobotomy which removes emotions, and genetic design which raises intelligence and strength, so you can be of use to society but not complain to it. I see that as slavery, totalitarianism and fascism! So drop *the thoughts on creating a superior race! I say that the only superior race will come when the "races" have all merged into one, in mind... that you can tolerate and accept each other, physical differences will always exist due to adaptation.
