I don't see how Respect winning seats equates with the 'Left make gains.' Still, I suppose it's preferable to the Tories and Labour.

It's quite sad to hear that Tommy Sheridan lost his seat in Scotland. I thought Solidarity would do well in these elections.

I'm shocked to discover that Alex Salmond is "charismatic".

He nearly kept it. If the SNP had edged out in another Glasgow constituency they would have had one less on the regional list and he would have been in.

Still we have to partly blame ourselves. Add the Scottish Socialist vote to Solidarity's vote and he would also have ben in. This division has greatly hurt us.

What's more (or equally) as newsworthy, is the disturbingly large BNP vote.

But all respect due to Respect, depsite their contradictions and limitations (and defections - Tower Hamlets, anyone?), they are at least AN advance on New (aka "The Party Formerly Known As Labour").

In that case, you probably have problems opening and closing doors!

I am too, but 'Lenin' who wrote that was being ironical! :)

Do RESPECT advocate Socialism? Do their MPs/councillours accept only a worker's wage? What is their stance on abortion, Islamic fundamentalism, Iran, and sex workers?

Also, what is now their total tally of elected representatives? And are these people actually pushing "Left" (Socialist) ideas and views?

So many questions :P
