I watched the film on Saturday, and it was very touching. Even though it didn't have a 'sad' ending, I still walked out feeling like I wanted to cry. I think the film touched on general human experience, but more particularly migrant experience, in a way that was very moving. Probably because it was so gentle and handled themes very lightly. It didn't set out to make a point, but rather to tell a story.

The actors were good too. Of course, it's helped by the fact that I've had a crush on Zuleikha Robinson forever...

I was wondering if anyone else has seen it and has any thoughts? And/or has anyone read the novel on which it is based, by Jhumpa Lahiri?

Edit: It also has a really good soundtrack by Nitin Sawhney.

I saw the film but haven't read the book. I was kinda worried that I wouldn't be able to get over the fact that the lead was played by the guy from Harold and Kumar, but I thought it was really well done. Like you said, not trying to be preachy, just a good story.
