So Nine Inch Nails recently released a cd called Year Zero (http://yearzero.nin.com/), the story behind the cd is simply that in 15 years from now the US has become to totalitarian oppressive state, sort of your 1984 scenario. There is an Alternate Reality Game going on relating this album in the form of a viral campaign. Basicly little clues on websites and USB sticks which connect it all together. Look for more on that here (http://www.ninwiki.com/Main_Page).

An aspect of this is the Open Source Resistance (http://www.opensourceresistance.net/), people make their art and put it up there. Now however people want to form their local chapters and spread the message. Sounds like something positive right? However its too US focussed for my tastes and its all "oh we should tell people that we have a democracy and a voice bla bla". I think most leftists here would agree that the US is hardly as democratic as it pretends to be. THe way this movement wants to work with weekly meet ups or whatever isnt really my cup of tea either, however I like the idea of some international network of people who put up art as a way to send a political message. We as leftists could do this too I believe.

I dont know what you guys think of this, but I believe we could pull this off, we need a few dedicated people from various parts of the world who are capable of setting up their own cells/chapters and then spread the message. We could perhaps have a general goal which consists of various subjects, for example better working conditions for the working class, free access to software (similar to the GNU Project), and various other problems and situations. In Western European nations you could for example make art about the situation of north african immigrants and islam in Europe.

I dont know what you people think of an idea like this. But it would be cool to all of a sudden see artwork from the same movement appear in all major cities of the world adressing certain social/political/ecological issues for example :o Wake the masses up or something!

Im not sure I understand.
We already have masses of artists producing thousands of detailed political images, we have no short supply of propaganda art, posters, stickers and graffiti, and even mainstream musical artists.

Are you saying we should have more? or are you suggesting a different way of presenting it?

No, Im suggesting we should organise it more, like a single movement instead of various different artists each doing their thing. So instead of having a million posters and messages each coming from a diferent individual, you would have these messages spread as if done by a single movement.
