Mexico: is it moving forward?

I was just reading how Mexico City legalized abortion. and a few months ago they allowed same sex civil unions. plus that teen pop star came out and the country responded really good. Are you guys surprised that this things are happening under such conservative presidency?

No more than I would have been surprised when PRI was in power. Both of those parties are rotten to the core...PRI went from being a revolutionary party to a party that was putting bullets in the back of leftist heads in a span of fewer than 30 years.

That Mexico City is more progressive is not surprising. Urban areas tend to be more forward-looking in general, and the DF government is run by the PRD.
