Wasn't sure where to post this.

We all hate the British monarchy and we all want them gone, but the argument I often get from people is "Oh, but they bring in so much money from tourism!"

However, I'm pretty sure it's costs more in taxpayer's money to keep them where they are than we get from tourism, but I can't find any evidence to back this up.

Can anyone help?

Try the Republic website (http://www.republic.org.uk/) or email them about your query. They're the foremost anti-monarchist pressure group in the UK so should hopefully be able to give you some evidence.

Hope this helps,

Well it is a simple fact that far more tourists visit the old French palaces than visit the British ones. I don't deny that tourists like to see the palaces, but there certainly doesn't need to be a monarch for them to visit as the French example shows.

would you go to a country just to see a palace?
