I know since i put philosophy in the thread title it should go in that forum, but this is a politicial questions. I know what Chavez is doing for Venezuela is good for the people, but what is his philosophy and ontology behind it? if he doesn't have one, then he will only run into problems and Venezuela might end up in a very sticky situation.

All you gotta do is check out this recent thread to decide for yourself:

Well, his unique brand of politics is Boliviarianism which combines populism with democratic socialism.

From what I can see, no one really has an idea of what the fuck Chavez is up to. On one hand he's got some socialist-type measures being implemented in Venezuela and on the other he is making promises to the bourgeois and private property.
I think we all have to just wait and see.

I say that any effort in Venezuela towards revolutionary goals should be supported. Hopefully, if there is a large enough proletarian movement tied to him, if he tries to turn his back, he can simply be swept away.

I'm pretty sure that Chavez is just applying a left-wing interpretation of the bible. (At last that book has had a POSITIVE influence in politics)

I think he's pragmatically trying to apply a version of Trotsky's theory of permanent revolution to Latin America, to an extent....he isn't going to build socialism yet, if at all, but I'm pretty sure what him, Morales etc are doing are trying to break free of imperialist influence that hinders the development of Latin America. It is the national bourgeoisie who are benefitting from Chavez's revolution...by creating a Latin American trade bloc they can break free of the IMF and WTO and American influence in general. I'm pretty sure that's what he is playing at and he is using socialist rhetoric to convince the proletariat to defend him against the USA and the Venezuelan bourgeoisie economically tied to them.
Maybe he is a socialist, but if so he thinks socialism can't be built until imperialism is defeated.

i remember Chavez saying after he won the election once again by a landslide that his victory was a victory of socialism as well...

Too bad socialism is a broad term. Chavez is a populist, which means he might not want to build up a socialist state (in the sence of the stage before communism). I think it's something like Maty said.

Chavez is a socialist he believes however that Venezuela is not the only country can benefit from socialist reform, this is where his call to a Bolivarian Revolution comes into place. Chavez wants to unite Central and South America but in order to do so it must get rid of the disease of imperialism that controls the region. As for him being a socialist he has already nationalized the oil reserves, hospitals, and telecommunications. Chavez raised the price of oil and with that the money not only benefited Venezuela but also Bolivia and Nicaragua. He has also united politics in Venezuela, creating a single socialist party. in one of his recent speeches Chavez has stated that in order for Venezuela to survive with socialism it has to unite with the rest of our brothers and sisters of central and south america. KEEP SURVIVING. KEEEP FIGHTING. TILL THE END.
