Just giving it out for all my comrades here on the West Coast. Victoria Marxist-Leninist Organization is putting on the first May Day Rally in a fair number of years. I invite everyone who is interested to come and enjoy the rally and march. For those of you over in Vancouver I know you guys are putting on a big march too so good luck with that. If any organizers of that see this could you tell anyone you know over here that this is happening cause we want a big turnout!

Reading Gorky's "Mother" gives you a whole new perspective and respect for May Day, and life in general.

I know a lot of IWW local branches are involved in organizing for the Gran Paro on May 1st. I do believe they are involved in the May 1st Coalition in NYC, and it does appear something is happening in Boston.
http://www.bostonmayday.org/index.html
I know that IWW members involved with troqueros have been busy building for the day throughout the US, and the ILWU Local #10 in the Bay Area ports has called for a stop-work meeting on May 1st. I was only informed of this recently by some IWW members in the Bay Area, and I can't understand why the ILWU has not been giving this much publicity. I understand the local in Seattle has done the same.

P.S. Thanks to CDL for posting the info. above. Members of different organizations including the IWW, FPM, and Pittsburgh Friends of Immigrants have been working for a good turnout in Pittsburgh.

Hey comrade, It's great news to hear about this initiative!
I know a few comrades in BC so I'll tell them about it. However, don't you have a gathering time and place? Also, do you have a leaflet or something, a public call for the demo?
I checked vicml.com, and I'm truly glad to learn that a new ML group has been set up in Victoria. If possible, I'd like to have more info about your organization and its ideology.
Also, I don't know if you plan to write a report about the demo in Victoria, but if you do, I'm sure my comrades in the RCP-Canada would like to read it, and possibly include it in their The Red Flag newpaper.

There's nothing going down in Toronto this year, which is unfortunate. In Mississauga there is a rally for No One Is Illegal at Hwy 10/Dundas at Revolution Square (holy shit, I grew up in the 'Saug and I never knew there was a "Revolution Square"!) at 5:00 pm. I will not attend for barbequing purposes. Plus I hate Mississauga.
BUT on May 5 No One Is Illegal is having a day of Action against illegal deportations at Bloor/Christie (Christie Pits Park).
I would go if not for work; the last No One Is Illegal rally I attended was amazing. I urge Torontonians to take to the streets to protest unfair treatment of non-citizen labourers in Canada.

PM me if you want to get in on the Revolutionary Communist Contingent for the May 1st rally at Union Square in New York City. I think we'll be carrying large red flags like we did last year and getting out literature.

Yeah, I would like to know the answer to this also. Are the Mayday marches in London being held on Mayday, or on the 7th. I heard that the 7th is a bank holiday.

In England, May Day is the 1st, but the bank holiday is the 7th. Take both says I.
There is a growing list of May Day events by all sorts of groups --unions, political parties, anarchists, community groups, etc.-- around the world at:

MayDay - Sydney
This Sunday is the May Day and Toast
Kevin Rudd's disgraceful industrial relations policy (which denies workers the right to strike and allows employers to sack large numbers of workers unfairly) is becoming known as WorkChoices- lite. This underlines the importance of building a stronger and more militant rank-and-file movement to defend our rights at work and not relying on politicians from any political party to give us our rights on a platter. (Truly our rights at work have to be fought for, not voted for.) It also underlines the importance of building a political alternative to the ALP. The ALP conference confirmed that if we all fall in behind the ALP, we will be smothered by the ALP machine.
Moral of the story: March with Socialist Alliance at May Day. Come to the May Day toast.
May Day Rally
Help Socialist Alliance from 10am
Official gathering time: 11am
Hyde Park North. Sun 6 May
Ph 9690 1977 to get involved.
May Day Toast
2pm (or whenever the rally finishes)
Gaelic Club, 64 Devonshire St, Surry Hills (just near Central Station)
