I need help making a map of Soviet political structure...could I ask for help?

What time period are you referring to? It evolved over time.

The key thing about it though was that it was a confederation of different states (15 after the war) and so had federal and national level governments. Russia itself was federal so had state governments too. And then there were local governments.

The "elected" part were the Soviets, for most of the time at the USSR federal level, there were two Soviets each of 750 members. One where each state had a number of representatives corresponding to its population and one where each state had equal representation plus the autonomous regions and cities also had representation.

These soviets would then "elect" the other aspects of Government.

At the national and local levels it was a similair system, but with just one Soviet rather than two. In reality though real power rested with the party, and te real executive authority was the politburo rather than the elected government officials.

Well what I wrote above is pretty accurate for that period. That was the basic structure under Brezhnev.

Obviously what I gave you though was a bit bare bones to sa the least, what particular aspects are you interested in?

Just the organizations and their bodies 'n such, like the executive/legislative branches.
