Have you all noticed how most of contemporary music especially hip hop is so capitalist and exploitative these days? You ask a kid today who lives in the inner city what he wants to be when he grows up and he'll tell you, "I wanna be a pimp." Or "I wanna be a G. (gangster) like 50 cent."

Of course. Thats what most of all this newer hip hop is about....its not even really hip hop. Pitbull is a fine example of what hip hop and reggeaton is not. Real hip hop is a combination of lyrical and musical perfection. Now-a-days its all about the beat and whats going to sound good on the dance floor. So now its all about getting a good producer and any mofo off the street to spit a couple of lines and they throw out an album. Thats mainly the reason why we don't see a lot of these artists who come out one year, and not the next.

And since newer hip-hop is mainly targeted towards male teens, whats better then a glamorous life with lots of money and diamonds and whatever else that might make you a "pimp" to get lots of girls. It didn't use to be like that and there are still true hip-hop artists who stay close to their roots such as jurrassic 5, Supernatural, Common, Blackstar(Talib Kweli and Mos Def), n even Wu Tang Clan. Some of these artists talk about the same shit as newer artists, but its at least with more credible flow and lyrics. But to basically sum it all up, Hip Hop is at a standstill and is bound to go down the shitter in the next 10 years.
