Most of you know General Suharto and what he did. What completely pissess me off though is just that I recently found out that:
1. He's still alive, has/hasnt had any court proceedings, and is allowed general freedom of movement and action in Indonesia.
2. His military party, Gronka or whatever its called, is still fully legal.
All this after he butchered millions of indonesians and enacted probally the closest thing to a Nazi Regime after Hitler on Earth.

Armed with wide-bladed knives called parangs, Moslem bands crept at night into the homes of communists, killing entire families and burying their bodies in shallow graves."
"The murder campaign became so brazen in parts of rural East Java, that Moslem bands placed the heads of victims on poles and paraded them through villages. The killings have been on such a scale that the disposal of the corpses has created a serious sanitation problem in East Java and Northern Sumatra where the humid air bears the reek of decaying flesh. Travellers from those areas tell of small rivers and streams that have been literally clogged with bodies."
Even the CIA says "In terms of the numbers killed the anti-PKI massacres in Indonesia rank as one of the worst mass murders of the 20th century."
Yet this man is still alllowed to roam totally free, and his party is still legal even though in his reign he banned all other non-puppet parties. With his overthrow in 1998 we should have expected better. Shows how completely insane the fact that the Eastern European Goverments passed laws banning the ruling parties of the stalinist era but the Indonesian passed nothing against this racist and geonicidal party of idiots.

Yes, attempts at prosecution have failed due to his health. It's kinda similar to what occured with Pinochet.
Even the CIA says "In terms of the numbers killed the anti-PKI massacres in Indonesia rank as one of the worst mass murders of the 20th century."
Which is funny considering that the CIA/US supplied him with information and support.

This comes as little surprise - the Americans love their filthy little dictators. Especially the ones who helped out in killing reds.

It's all to conveniant for him, people think actions are justified by the end product, but slaughtering people with no relent, there is no redemption.

But, you really have to ask yourself whether or not the evil general would have become all that effective in his evil without all the stupid, deluded religious moslem fanatics following him who believe they are doing god's will and they'll receive 72 virgin brides in heaven for their act of mass-murder. Evil only becomes effective through mass stupidity.

Probably due to the US. America loves installing or supporting communist-slaughtering dictators, just look at Latin America. It's absolutely disgusting that people like this are allowed to roam free after what they did, but then I suppose America probably find kinship with him, considering they both have a tendency towards genocide. It just goes to show the ridiculousness of McCarthyism. Communists who've done nothing wrong are brutally murdered and fascists who commit mass genocide are given ultimate freedom, and it's all the fault of the US.

Well that just about explains it.

There is a complet double standard. Leftists are made to be punished for their so called crimes, while right wingers who commit genocide and mass murder in the name of anti communism are completely left alone and even praised. If Ethiopia can put Mengistu on trial for genocide, then Suharto should face an even worse fate.
I believe it comes from the American cold war double standards. When the Soviets commited crimes, it was used to show how evil the ideology of "Communism" was. But when the Americans commited the same and even worse crimes, it wasnt used to show capitalism as an evil on society. It was excused since they said they were doing it in the name of anti communism, so therefore it was acceptable. Its the same thing with Suharto. Fucking ridicluous.

Islamists who stab Marxists in the back?
Mr. Galloway, take note of what's happened in Iran, in Afghanistan, and in Indonesia.

Suharto would not have been able to achieve this if it was not for the help he received from Blair and his Labour government.
John Pilger:
http://www.angloarabia.com/bombs/index.html
From article:
From the day it took office, veiled by Cook's "ethical" nonsense, New >Labour embraced the arms business. In his first few months as Prime Minister, Blair approved 11 arms deals with General Suharto's genocidal regime in Indonesia under cover of the Official Secrets Act.
New Labour = mass murder.

Let's not forget that Suharto didn't do the murdering. The Indonesian petty bourgeoisie and their religious-fundamentalist goon squads did.
Think of it as your landlord and his buddies.

You know there was a protest here in Canada back in the 90s against then prime minister Chretien's trade with Indonesia. And of course they were pepper sprayed. It's odd that the more left-wing the cuase the more they seem likely to spray.

As long as they don't bite the hand that feeds them like Saddam and bin Laden did, then they will be allowed to get away with whatever they want.

Yes. Most Western media would have one believe that Golkar ("Functional Groups") is now a mainstream conservative party, despite its nomination of a war criminal for president in 2004. Golkar hasn't sufficiently whitewashed its history for the kind of electoral success experienced by the death squad ruling party of El Salvador, for example.
As for Golkar being legal, the PKI is still banned, so what do you expect?
