‘Ideas that shaped the world’ was more than a book of just words; to me it carried connotations of what it means to be a human being living in our world. From it I learned and appreciated our civilizations were built upon ideas grand or small, and that human actions behind them shaped our world today. The Kosovo war had personally affected my best friend who was a Yugoslavian immigrant, and through him the true consequences of human ideas and actions became known to me. I then sought to unearth the reasons behind the war and its implications on all the people it touched and maimed. As well as helping me to develop a clearer understanding of current affairs, a veil of innocence was uncovered and I adopted a different perception of the world I was growing up in.

Politics and Government tore his country apart by historic feuds spear headed by human actions, yet at the same time through immigration spear headed by ideals of internationalism, enabled us to become best of friends. I then realised the influential relationship government and politics has over our destinies and of its great significance to shaping our world, good or bad; past, present or future is undisputable.

I describe myself in full as: A Black British European, born and bred with Carribean ancestory, 17 of age and currently doing four A levels at college: Business studies/English/Sociology/Politics & government/

I am not religious, in truth i do not actually believe in a god or care if there is one, because we should be concerned about our planet and ourselves instead of a unknown being that we have no shrink of evidence for. However i respect and accept people who choose to believe in a religion, i am against anyone choosing to be religious on the basis of pressure from external influences. Fundamentaly we all choose, just some choices are harder to make than others.

I support internationalism and supprot international organizations such as the UN, but wish it was more democratic and effective. I also support democratic continent wide unions (current state of the EU annoys me though) and believe humanity is heading towards a global union, such as an 'peoples republic of Earth' of some sorts.

I dislike the value of tolerance (tolerance strikes up thoughts of where some one dislikes you but will put up with you, which is still wrong) but prefer the value of acceptance instead (i rather be accepted and liked), thus i accept people of all race, religion, age, sex, sexuality and nation. I always say “one earth, same sky, one moon, same sun, black, white, mixed or else, one race – The human race’

I am member of the UK Labour party, college newsletter editor and Union president as well as being class rep twice so far. My friends at college find me odd; always have due to my vivid passion for everything in the world. Ever since i was a child my school reports are flooded with comments on my very opinionated but at the same time open minded - though it got me into a lot of trouble as well with my teachers and some peers, which i must partly thank my parents for.

My family always discussed issues of life rigorously for hours around me, put it this way my mum said she use to talk to me about 'current affairs' for example before i could barely say 'mummy' <_< i still remember being eight and people at school would just stare at me, with a ''what the fuck is that guy on'' kind of expression, yet i was still liked by people, so i guess i never really faced the typical rejection some people felt by being radically different to your class mates.

i enjoy rap, some pop, little classical, bit of rock and RnB as well as Soul- really i love all type of music as well as movies and books. I have no real favourites when it comes to this subject.

Recently i have been interested in political and non political philosophy, hence my reading of Aristotle 'the prince' and Friedrich Nietzsche ‘Thus Spoke Zarathustra’ and recommend them both to you.

If I am honest, I am determined to have died (at a very grand old age) and leave a world changed by me, like the many great people before me have done. We are all born to die, but what you do in-between is the true meaning of life (Well my view anyway)

Oh and if someone was to ask me right now if i could have any job i wanted, i would say Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. If someone was to ask me what job i wanted in the future i would say, President of the European Union - does that make me weird? Anyway i prefer not to dream, i will do.

So that’s me, thanks for reading.

Hi and welcome :)

Being a member of the Labour Party, you may be a bit more to the centre than most of the members here, but don't worry about that.

Wehre in Britain are you from? I'm from Lancashire.

I live in London as do the other Members of core members of ACA.

If you havn't looked up the ideas of Anarchist-Communist I would definately suggest educating yourself on it, most worth while.

P.S. quit the labour party.

Hey Ezan, ignore the comments about your being in the Labour Party making you any less left wing. I am also a member of the LP and I can say that I am an uncompromising Marxist. Some of us recognise that this is the traditional party of the working class and understand working in such organisations is the only manner in which we are going to reach workers.

Hello comrade. I also believe that as marxists we should work in the Labour Party as it is the traditional party of Britains working class, and so the best place for socialists to build for a revolution and reach out to the conscious working class.

Noone said either of these things...seriously, read others' posts.

Anyway, hello Ezan, it's always good to see new members. I'd suggest you talk with Faceless if you're looking for an organised marxist tendancy within the LP.
