Killing Che, by Chuck Pfarrer, Random House. Released 3 April 2007.

The book was reviewed in the Los Angeles Times Calendar section yesterday, and was called "a first rate thriller" by Timothy Rutten. I've started it, and it seems pretty good so far. Parts Jorge Castañeda and Graham Greene. The story forcuses on Che's last campaign in the Ñancahuazú Valley in Bolivia. The review says it hews closely to the facts, and it is an enjoyable read 100 pages or so into it.

For those interested in Che, and his life, this seems like a good bet. I'll post again when I finish.

Is it fiction or non-fiction?

And is it better than Che's own diaries?

Is it fiction or non-fiction?
Fiction. The entire title is Killing Che: A Novel. So I think that answers your second question as well.

Killing Che, a Book Review in Progess

Two hundred and fifty pages in after a pretty much all night read. Frankly, it was good enough not to want to put down. A bit like Graham Greene, as the reviewer in the LA Times said, but a bit lighter. The story of Che in Bolivia is there, and the history is rigidily adhered to, but the protagonists are real, breathing creations. An intersting plot, the CIA, the Bolivian Army and even the CBP are after Guevara. The action is split between Che and his persuers, between the jungle and the city. So far it's wonderful. Much better than other "Che" books, this one lives up the billing reality fiction.

Would love to hear what other eductaed readers think. I consider muself pretty well read on Che, and so far I have yet to be disappointed.

Don't take my word for it. He's the LA Times Review.
