Allah himself would not understand how our revolution could have succeeded if "its chief instrument" proved to be useless, while success was impossible, as it appears, "by-passing the Party."

And Stepanov? Allah knows. Thats just it: an extremely indefinite and muddled position

what's with this?

allah is synonymous with god, dont really see the big deal. if it makes you feel better just pretend the translator used the word god.

I figured that, but I thought the Russian original must have said Allah not G-d, which is why the translator translated it like that. But I was wondering why Lenin and Stalin would have written that to begin with?

Because on of the directions of Soviet expansion was towards the arabic world.

Well, in case of the expansion by Lenin the arabs did not need to fear because Lenin told the red army to be kind to the muslims and respect their religion.

I think it's silly for anyone to use the word "Allah" when referring to the Sky Fairy of Abraham in English...Allah is just the Arabic word meaning "The one true God." Arabic Christians refer to the deity as "Allah" when speaking their native language...Furthermore, the use of Allah in English divides Abrahamists against one another rather than allowing them to unite against the lies and the moral bankruptcy of the belief system.

Let's get it straight: the expansion was towards the Muslim world not the Arab world.

It also indicates that the Bolsheviks were not adverse to appealing to local sentiment and culture in order to win support for the Communist cause.

And why not? You wouldn't march into a superstitious peasant territory and demand they they fall in line behind militant atheism. That would be chauvinistic and tactically stupid.

surely that won't appeal to them though? it'll just piss them off that atheists are daring to use allah's name in vain?

Too much prejudiced against Muslims isn't it ?

WIKI says otherwise (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_in_the_Soviet_Union#_note-IS)

Particularly

In 1941 after the German invasion the Soviet Muslims officially declared Jihad against Germany.

So Muslims had no objections when ruled by atheists as long as their day to day activities are not interfered by others.

Also predominantly Muslim Central Asian SSR's were the ones too reluctant to leave USSR.

What needs to change is your faulty attitude.

Your conclusion that all muslims hate to be ruled by an atheist/non-muslim.

I presumed that you are prejudiced from this response. If it is not then I apologise.
