Do you think they're a revolutionary band?
a lot of their music has political meaning to it.

If anyone knows, what is their political status?

Well I know that Serj Tankian of System of the Down and Tom Morello of Rage Against the machine founded Axis of Justice and did some concerts to raise money, but personally I don't see them as that "revolutionary."

Serj Tankian was reffered to and agreed to the term "Pinko" in refereance to him.

I love SOAD, they are great.

WHat do you own?
The World!
How do you own DISORDER?!

I do love system.

That said i am not very keen at all n some of the lyrics in their newish song holy mountain - in which 'Sodomiser' is used as a term of abuse.

Schmeh they're ok i suppose. Steal's a good album. I kind of went off them when I met someone who played nobody but (with the exception of Slipknot and *coughs* Lordi). Also, said person was a staunch monarchist, which kind of made me think that not all their fans are radical leftists.
Also, they're one of the first rock bands I got into when I was about 12. I want to leave that whole area behind.

I would say that most of their political songs probably come from either Toxicity or their self tilted.

There are more political songs on Steal this Album such as Mr Jack ("7 am, morning/ Came to take us away./ Little men, big guns/ pointed at our heads), Chic'n stu (The world's first anti-advertising-pro-pizza-pie song), The one about turning to sand, etc, etc. Unfortunately, I seem to have lost this album. Bums.

But I will admit that Forest is an ace song. Thanku all for rekindling my liking of System! I went off them a bit when people who have no idea of politics (eg someone I knew in Norfolk) and people who are openly right-wing (eg someone I knew in Somerset who was a monarchist) listen to them.

Oh and random trivia: In the record shops of Norwich, the booklet for "S.T.A" had to be taken outof the case because so many people did just that! Don't believe me, then go to a record shop in Norwich and ask a clerk.

System of a Down suck ass. They are very repetitive and not very talented. As I said before, they suck.

I like the songs Toxicity, BYOB and Chop Suey, all the rest I've heard are shit.

SOAD's first album was AMAZING. Toxicity was good. The others are hit and miss.

As an old metal head I find them extremely boring. What they do has been done before a million times and sometimes quite better. Plus his singing is well just horrible.
They have made some political lyrics, but nothing that can get me to listen to them. Never understood the fuzz about them, in my oppinion they only got the massive commercial airplay because big business can see how political music is getting more attention, so they take a band with tame political music and cash in.

No you're thinking of Green Day and U2, dear! It does seem like SOAD genuinely - or at least convincingly- oppose capitalism.

Their lyrics is nowere near bands like Public Enemy, Dead Kennedys and so on. That's why I label it tame :D
Btw you just ruined my day, everytime I hear or see the name U2 I have to puke for an hour.

I actually think SOAD are more political than dead kennedys.

Dead Kennedys were solely political, weren't they? I've never heard a song by them that wasn't.

SOAD occasionally do political, occasioanlly absurdist, mostly proud, mindless rock.

And some don't even fit into those categories. "Question!" was about reincarnation.

lol no. They never released an album that didn't contain some joke songs or some non-political song, esp. the songs written by East Bay Ray. Some of my favorite songs of theirs are non-political, i.e. Moon Over Marin, Buzzbomb, I kill children, etc. Most of DKs songs were actually socially political; they were actually quite moderate compared to some of the other bands at the time who were more direct in their attacks on the system.

WHAT?!?!?! Not very talented?!?!?!

I accept some people don't like them, but they are some of the greatest musicians on the planet! You have to admit they are good at what they do.

Take it from a musician, they are talented. You may not like their music, but they are ridiculously talented.
