View Full Version : Building a Sustainable Anarchist Movement

Circle A
26th March 2007, 00:06
Description --- There are many anarchist and anti-authoritarian activists in Ottawa involved in diverse projects and struggles. However, most anarchist/anti-authoritarian groups come and go fairly quickly and there is little organizational continuity. Many of the networks between activists (both formal and informal) have collapsed and as a result there is little communication between the different groups and projects. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the problems with anarchist organizing in Ottawa and and attempt to come up with concrete proposals on how to organize better both within and between our groups.

Sunday, April 1, 2007 --- 1h30pm --- Room 201, Jack Purcell Community Centre --- 320 Jack Purcell Lane, (just off Elgin St near the corner of Gilmour St).

I agree.

There are 100s of local and small anarchist-communist, anarchist-syndicalist and anti-authoritarian groups and organisations, both in the US and Canada. Each of these groups working on different projects and in numerous community activist projects.

What is needed is a unity of co-ordination, organisation and political action on a horizontal level, so as to achieve unity and a strong movement without having to give up political autonomy or giving up power to any leadership or vertical power structure.

Given that Ottawa is near the Canadian East coast, why not get all of these community groups and anarchist groups to join up with the North Eastern Federation of Anarchist Communists (NEFAC). NEFAC is active in both Canada and the US, along all regions in both countries that are either on or near the East/Atlantic coast.

Here is NEFAC's website:
